- Easter Weekend
Its
finally here, four days off. Time to get some building in !!
However I am feeling a tad rough to say the least, so the heaters
are on full blast and I am packed full of lemsip !!
First part of the day were some more nut plates.
Read the plans ! easy to rivet these to the wrong side.
I did not have the tie down spaces back from Bob's;
he said he would chop them straight into 2" chunks for me so they
were dead straight. So in the mean time; until tomorrow as I
am picking them up tonight I will push on with the rear spars.
It starts with taking the doubler that looks like a
tuning fork and a further plate that sits on top as in the picture
below and start chopping bits off it !!!!! The spars are
built for an RV-8 so to make them into an RV-7 version some of the
ends have to be removed as per the dimensions in the preview plans
dwg 38 (I think). Anyway I was a bit worried about it but
the band saw was the way to go and I got both sets done

I spent a little time after this starting to debur
and smooth these parts. It calls for plenty of file work to
remove all the punch marks where they have been pressed out of a
slab of aluminium.
